Students of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry have played a vital role in advancing food security through product innovation. A notable example
is the “Pertabayak” product, developed as part of student-led research and entrepreneurship activities. The product has successfully expanded
to regional markets in Banyuwangi, demonstrating the scalability of student innovation from academic settings to community impact.
“Pertabayak” is designed to meet nutritional needs while remaining affordable for broader society, thereby contributing to accessible and sustainable food solutions. Its development process also provided students with practical exposure to research, product design, and market adaptation, ensuring they are well-prepared to tackle food system challenges after graduation. By encouraging this kind of student entrepreneurship, UNISMA creates a bridge between academic innovation and real-world food system improvement, fostering
young leaders who contribute to food security at local and regional levels.
