Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) is deeply committed to addressing poverty through the transformative power of education. Recognizing
that financial barriers often prevent talented students from continuing their studies, UNISMA has developed a wide range of scholarship and tuition support programs to ensure equitable access to higher education. One of the most impactful initiatives is the “Seribu Sarjana” program in Batu City, a collaborative effort with the local government that prioritizes children of farmers and families with limited economic resources. Through this program, higher education becomes accessible to groups that are traditionally underserved, opening opportunities for social and economic mobility.
In addition, UNISMA has established financial support schemes at multiple academic levels. These include tuition fee reductions for Master’s
programs, doctoral scholarships, and full or partial waivers for new student registration fees. By implementing such mechanisms, the university
reduces the financial burden on students and their families while cultivating a more diverse and inclusive student body. These measures go
beyond temporary aid, as they serve as a long-term investment in human capital. Ultimately, UNISMA’s scholarship and access policies play a strategic role in breaking cycles of poverty, strengthening community resilience, and contributing to a more just and equitable society.
